DANVILLE — Saying goodbye is an essential part of the grief process.

And even though government restrictions on gatherings of more than 10 people includes funerals, area funeral directors are trying to be as accommodating as possible while still following suggested guidelines.

"We're still honoring lives and doing what we have always done in the past," said Rich Darby, a co-owner of Sunset Funeral Homes. "We're just doing it a bit differently."

If the family still wants a public visitation, Darby said Sunset is prepared to increase the number of hours so that visitors can be spread out.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA ) — Some funeral homes have started streaming services. Sunset Funeral Homes has started putting services online. They ask permission from families and post the links after the funeral.

They say they’re one business which can’t close. Rich Darby, with Sunset Funeral Homes, says families can also have a private family visitation or have a body buried or cremated and hold the service later.

In addition to the streaming services, Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home and Moran & Goebel Funeral Home officials said they are offering to care for loved ones at no additional cost if funeral services need to be postponed.
